Refund Policy

Last updated: 1 August 2026

This Refund Policy explains when you are entitled to cancel and obtain a refund for purchases made from Interic Ltd, trading as Food Safe Ireland ("Food Safe Ireland", "we", "us", "our") through foodsafeireland.ie. It forms part of our Terms and Conditions and reflects your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2022 and applicable EU consumer law. Nothing in this Policy affects those statutory rights.

Because we provide compliance and safety training, attempting a Course's final exam creates a permanent training record. Once such a record exists it cannot be undone, and this affects when a refund can be offered, as explained below. We have tried to make this Policy clear and fair, and we will always try to do right by genuinely dissatisfied customers.

1. Your Statutory Cooling-Off Period

If you are a consumer in the European Union, you have a statutory right to cancel most purchases within 14 days of the date your order is confirmed, without giving a reason. This is known as the "cooling-off period".

2. Beginning a Course Within the Cooling-Off Period

Our Courses are digital content that you can access immediately. By purchasing and accessing a Course within the 14-day cooling-off period, you expressly request that we begin providing the Course straight away, and you acknowledge that this affects your right to cancel once you have attempted the Course's final exam, as set out below. We will confirm your purchase and these arrangements by email.

3. Refunds on One-Off Course Purchases

You may request a full refund of a one-off Course purchase within 14 days of purchase, provided that you have not attempted the Course's final exam (or other final assessment). You are welcome to work through the course content and knowledge checks during this period.

Once you have attempted the final exam, a training record has been created and the fee for that Course stands, even within the 14-day period. This reflects the nature of compliance training, where exam attempts and results must be recorded and cannot be erased.

4. Goodwill Refunds

We want every learner to be satisfied. Even where the strict conditions above are not met, we may, at our discretion, offer a full or partial refund or a credit if you are genuinely unhappy with a Course. If something has gone wrong, please get in touch — we would always rather put it right than have you feel let down. Goodwill refunds are offered at our discretion and do not affect your statutory rights.

5. Faulty, Misdescribed or Inaccessible Content

If a Course is faulty, materially not as described, or you are unable to access it because of a fault on our side, you are entitled to a remedy under the Consumer Rights Act 2022, which may include repair (for example, fixing the access issue), replacement, or a refund. Please contact us as soon as you become aware of the problem so we can investigate and put it right. The final-exam condition in section 3 does not apply where the issue is caused by a genuine fault in the Course or platform.

6. Refunds on All-Access Plans

If you purchase an All-Access Plan, you may cancel and receive a full refund within 14 days of purchase, provided you have not made substantial use of the plan (for example, by attempting the final exam of any Course in it). After the 14-day period, the plan fee is non-refundable and we do not provide pro-rata refunds; however, you will retain access for the remainder of the access period you have paid for. Where a plan renews automatically, you may cancel renewal at any time before the next billing date to prevent further charges.

7. Our Money-Back Guarantees

Some of our Courses carry specific money-back guarantees — for example, our environmental health officer (EHO) acceptance guarantee on food safety courses, our HSA inspector acceptance guarantee on Manual Handling and Fire Safety, and our employer acceptance guarantee. Where a Course page states such a guarantee, it applies in addition to your rights under this Policy, on the terms and within the period described on that page. To claim under a guarantee, contact us at [email protected] with your order details and the relevant correspondence, and we will look after it from there.

8. Tailored Arrangements

Tailored arrangements for larger organisations are governed by a separate written agreement, and any refund rights are as set out in that agreement rather than this Policy.

9. Group and Business Licences

Refunds and seat reassignment for group and business licences are addressed in our Business & Group Licence Policy. In general, an unused seat (where the learner has not started the Course) may be eligible for a refund or reassignment, while a seat is non-refundable once the learner has attempted the Course's final exam, as a training record then exists.

10. Duplicate and Accidental Purchases

If you are charged twice for the same Course in error, or you make an obvious accidental duplicate purchase, contact us and we will refund the duplicate charge in full, provided the duplicated Course has not been used.

11. Chargebacks

If you believe a charge is incorrect, please contact us first so we can resolve it quickly. Raising a chargeback with your bank or card provider without contacting us may result in your Account being suspended while the matter is investigated. We reserve the right to dispute chargebacks where a Course has been accessed or a refund has already been provided.

12. How to Request a Refund

To request a refund, email us at [email protected] with your order number, the email address on your Account, the Course or plan concerned, and the reason for your request. We will acknowledge your request as soon as possible.

13. How Refunds Are Processed

Approved refunds are issued to your original payment method via Stripe or PayPal. We process approved refunds as soon as possible and, in any event, within 14 days. The time it takes for funds to appear in your account depends on your bank or card provider. Refunds are made in the currency of the original transaction.

14. Business Customers

Where you purchase in the course of business rather than as a consumer, the statutory consumer cooling-off rights may not apply, and refunds are offered at our discretion and in accordance with this Policy and any applicable agreement.
